Empty and defrost early

Move food to safe cold storage. A freezer may need many hours to defrost, so follow the appliance instructions and manage meltwater before the crew arrives.

Disconnect utilities safely

Unplug the unit only when it is safe to do so. If it has a water or ice line, use a qualified person when needed and make sure the valve is closed without leaking. Gas-powered appliances need separate professional attention.

Secure loose parts

Remove or tape loose bins and shelves so they cannot slide during handling. Do not lock or seal an unused refrigerator where a child could become trapped.

Check the path and dimensions

Measure the appliance, doors, counters, and turns. Tell the crew about steps, narrow gates, or a long carry before the appointment is scheduled.
